You’re Invited
As you enjoy the holidays, give a
helping hand to the homeless.
The upcoming holiday season
is a time when families gather together and thank God for the blessings He’s
bestowed throughout the year. It’s a time for family, fellowship, and food.
However, for many poverty-stricken families, the holidays are not a happy time,
especially for the homeless. It’s estimated that between 12,000 and 15,000
persons are homeless within the greater

Hi Mr. Vanderhorst,
Let me start by thanking you for the sermon,Tag
You're It. I wanted to share how God used you to speak directly to me 6 days
after the sermon was preached and 600 miles away in
Graduate School of Education, initially my interest was working in
higher education in an administrative capacity, but through my studies I
am realizing that access to higher education for African American's in the
inner cities is on the decline, contrary to popular belief that it
is increasing. I believe God is re-routing me to focus on accessibility to
education for young African American men as this has been on my
thoughts and my heart. Hearing your sermon has further etched this desire
in my heart and I would like to say thank you for always speaking
the (present) truth as it relates to our faith, our communities, and our
families. The truth is never accepted well, we know this by the path
that Jesus walked. Be encouraged.

Read To Succeed! Project 2008 |
|
|
|
Prepare Our Youth continues our Read To Succeed! Project 2008. We kicked this exciting project off in our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., in 2005, and it's still going strong! We envision this project to spread all across the nation! Not only will our children and youth increase their reading skills, but they will learn vital principles for life as they read. Read To Succeed! Project 2008 is
seeking sponsorship from businesses, civic and social organizations, churches,
schools, and interested contributors who want to invest in children and youth
who are looking for help and hope. POY's goal is to put Growin’ & Flowin’
in the hands of at least 100,000 young people. If you choose to be a
sponsor, your contribution is tax deductible. We can send you the books you
sponsor to distribute in your area, if you choose. Success is not by accident. Reading
is a essential part of success. Numerous educational studies cite many
children and youth reading below their grade level. This is unfortunate, but
not unfixable. We have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of
all our children and youth who need help in reading. At the same time, Growin’ & Flowin’
places emphasis on character development. True success involves adhering
to principles that engender respect, a healthy esteem, vision, choices, and
thinking for oneself, as the book addresses. It is our desire to make Growin’ and Flowin’ a
four-book series for children and youth. We also want to translate Growin’ and Flowin’
in different languages! Learn how start POY’s
